Spanish striker Fernando Torres' return to his first club Atletico Madrid started on a winning note as his side recorded a 2-0 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of their last-16 tie in the Copa del Rey.
A 46,800 strong crowd watched as the former Liverpool and Chelsea striker returned to the club where he began his career.
Spanish midfielder Raul Garcia's penalty put Atletico ahead a few minutes into half-time, after he was fouled, the BBC reported.
Torres remained quiet throughout the game and didn't manage to put the ball past the Real keeper. He was substituted after 59 minutes into the game, just a minute after Garcia's penalty.
Torres, who started his career from Atletico and is back again on loan from the Italian side AC Milan last week, had been the club's top scorer for five consecutive seasons before joining Liverpool in 2007.
After Torres' substitution, Jose Maria Gimenez's header sealed the win for the Spanish champions against the European Champions.
Atletico's opening goal, from Garcia's well-taken penalty after he had been fouled by Sergio Ramos, was their first shot on target and came just one minute before Torres was replaced by Koke, the report added.
