Spanish striker Fernando Torres has reportedly expressed his delight at returning back home ahead of his move from A.C. Milan to Atletico Madrid in January.

Torres, who is a product of Atletico's youth system, departed the Vicente Calderon for Liverpool in 2007 and enjoyed a prolific first four seasons in England before moving to Chelsea in 2011 for a then British transfer record 50 million pounds.

The Spain international failed to replicate his form for Chelsea and struggled during much of his time at Stamford Bridge, managing just 20 league goals in over 100 appearances, prompting his loan move to Milan in the off-season, Sport24 reported.

Torres' anguish has since continued at the San Siro, but many believe that a move back to his boyhood club could see the striker regain some of his best form, and the Spaniard is excited about the prospect of turning out for his beloved Atletico once more.

Torres said that he is happy to be back home, thanking those who made this possible. He added that for him, this is the realization of a dream, as he wanted to find happiness and claimed that there's no better place than Atletico.

The striker claimed that it was hard for him to leave all those years ago, but added that both him and Atletico have won titles and trophies since.
