New Delhi, June 29 (ANI):Toyota Motor Corp has announced that it will be issuing a recall for 1.43 million hybrid cars over worldwide, because of a possible airbag inflator defect.
According to the company, there is a defect with the airbag inflator, which could pose a major threat to the car's occupants. The models that will be recalled include - Toyota Prius and Lexus CT200h. recall will be covers vehicles that were manufactured between 2010 and 2012 with air bag inflators that could have a small crack in a weld, which could lead to the separation of the inflator chambers.
The automaker said it was recalling 482,000 US vehicles over a possible fault in emissions control units. and the remaining 948,000 vehicles will be recalled from the other markets. Thay also adhere that 1.43 million cars needed repairs over a separate issue involving air bag inflators.
However, that these airbags were not manufactured by Takata Corp, the troubled Japanese manufacturer whose faulty airbags have led to tens of millions of recalls worldwide, including automakers such as Toyota, Honda, Fiat and Mazda.
Toyota Motor Corp. also clarified that they are not aware of any injuries or deaths that been caused due to the faulty airbags in the above-mentioned cars might have. And it has already recalled close to 4.7 million vehicles in the U.S. alone that were fitted with Japanese manufacturer Takata airbags.
