Traditional Kashmiri cuisine now available online

Traditional Kashmiri cuisine Wazwan, which is a very important part of Kashmir's culinary culture, is now available online. The online shopping portal has been launched by a young local entrepreneur who has tied up with a renowned chef of the Valley and started the online sale of tin packed Wazwan to different states.

The owner of the online portal 'kashmirbox.com' informed that after launching Kashmiri handicrafts online there was a huge demand, particularly from the Kashmiris living outside the state, for online availability of Wazwan.

He also said that the demand was incredible and they were doing a brisk business.

CEO of 'Kashmirbox.com' Muheet Mehraj said, "It is a simple e-commerce website, which is like any other online shopping portal. Our aim is to give a platform to local Kashmir Wazwan-producing brands to sell their product globally."

An employee of 'Kashmirbox.com' Syed Owais Ahmad said, "As far as popularity is concerned, Wazwan is already famous in the world. Even those who are not familiar with Kashmiri cuisine can simply visit the website and read the description of cuisine as well as customer reviews."

Appreciating the easy availability of Wazwan, a local resident Abid Ahmed said, "As Kashmiris we crave for Wazwan, we love to eat Wazwan at least once a week. So now I have a platform here to go online and order Wazwan. It is really good for those Kashmiris who are living outside the state."

There are some 25 dishes, including the famous rista, goshtaba, tabakhmaz and meethi maz, available on this shopping portal.

Special air tight packing of these tins is being done in order to increase their shelf life. The rates have also been kept reasonable so that a common man can afford it.

The online Wazwan is getting popular even in the Valley as small parties order online Wazwan for many dishes.

Wazwan is a meat based, multi-course Kashmiri meal which is generally served on special occasions.
