England pace bowler Chris Tremlett is reportedly planning to target injured Australian captain Michael Clarke, among the team's other batsmen, during the winter Ashes series.

The comeback of Tremlett, whose future hung in the balance after he was forced to undergo complicated spinal surgery in February last year, barely got off the ground before he tore cartilage in his knee and was forced to go under the knife yet again.

According to News.com.au, Tremlett, who terrorised Australia's batsmen three years ago when England retained the urn on enemy territory, is aware of the importance of snaring the wicket of Clarke as the captain remains Australia's best batsman despite his ongoing back issues.

Tremlett, who dismissed Clarke twice in Perth three years ago, is right in the mix to feature in the return Ashes series even though he has failed to fire during the recent English county season, the report added.
