The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit in Tripura organized a state-wide civil disobedience on demand of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the alleged murder of a party leader and in a chit fund issue.
BJP supporters had skirmish with police as they broke police barricade in front of civil secretariat in state capital Agartala and blocked the roads.
The protesters were later arrested by the police.
The BJP brought serious allegations against CPI (M) MLA Lalit Mohan Tripura in the murder.
BJP state president Biplab Deb lashed out at state police and the ruling CPI (M) for failure to nab the culprits involved in the daylight murder of Chan Mohan Tripura, an elected village committee member at Gandcherra on December 28 last year.
According to him, there is no rule of law in the state and the government is run by the party cadres.

He alleged that on an average every day is a rape in the state and it accounts for highest in crime against women in the country.
Deb viewed that the state government is not ready to call CBI investigation into the chit fund as several of the state minister including Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had directly promoted the ponzi schemes by taking part in their programmes.
He asserted that the BJP shall continue it agitation till the state government declares investigation by the central agency in both the issues.
