White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, ahead of US President Donald Trump's maiden campaign rally in downtown Phoenix, put a full stop to the speculations that Trump will make any decision on former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio's pardon.

"President Donald Trump will not declare a decision on whether to pardon former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio," CNN quoted Sanders as saying.

"I can tell you that there will be no discussion of that today at any point, and no action will be taken on that front at any time today," Sanders said.

Arpaio, who is high-profile supporters of Trump, has not been invited to Trump's Phoenix rally.

The controversial former Arizona sheriff was convicted of contempt by a federal judge last month for disregarding a court order in a racial profiling case.

He was accused of violating a court order by continuing patrols targeting immigrants.
