Months after reports suggested that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) "did not allow" the FBI to examine its hacked computer servers, US President Donald Trump has asked if the reports were true and wondered whether the DNC could do that.

"Is it true the DNC would not allow the FBI access to check server or other equipment after learning it was hacked? Can that be possible?" he tweeted.

A few minutes later in another tweet, he said, "Who was it that secretly said to Russian President, "Tell Vladimir that after the election I'll have more flexibility?" @foxandfriends."

Earlier in January, the CNN had reported quoting a senior law enforcement official, "FBI repeatedly stressed to DNC officials the necessity of obtaining direct access to servers and data, only to be rebuffed until well after the initial compromise had been mitigated This left the FBI no choice but to rely upon a third party for information. These actions caused significant delays and inhibited the FBI from addressing the intrusion earlier."

However, the DNC disputed the reports and said that they did not receive any such request.

During the election campaign, it was alleged that DNC servers were hacked by Russia to benefit Trump.
