Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has denied all claims that the new constitution that will expand his powers would bring a "dictatorship", adding that the new constitution is "inevitable".

According to News24, he said that building of a "new Turkey" is inevitable.

The co-founder of the ruling Islamic-rooted Justice and Development Party (AKP) wants Erdogan's role to be as Turkey's number one with a US-style executive presidency.

Constitutional amendments require the support of more than two-thirds of the 550-seat parliament, or at least 367 votes.

The opposition in the country has often accused the President of having dictatorial tendencies.
