Born in Vellore, Apte began her acting in theatre productions before venturing into films. She made her feature film debut with a brief role in the Hindi fantasy 'Vaah! Life ho toh aisi.'
She then gathered widespread praise for her supporting work in three of her 2015 Bollywood productions including the thriller 'Badlapur' the comedy 'Hunterrr' and the biographical film 'Manjhi- the Mountain Man.' Her leading roles in the 2016's 'Phobia' and 'Parched' earned her further acclaim.
This year, she starred in three Netflix productions-the anthology film 'Lust Stories', the thriller series 'Sacred Games', and the horror miniseries 'Ghoul.'
Apte will next be seen in Sriram Raghvan's 'AndhaDhun' alongside Ayushmann Khurrana. The film portrays the story of a blind piano artist, played by Ayushmann and facades of his love story.
The thriller is slated to release on October 5 this year.
