A constable was killed and 17 others were injured when two remote-controlled bombs detonated one after another in Peshawar's Mithra area on Wednesday morning.
The Dawn reports that an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a police convoy injuring two people. As people and investigation teams arrived at the site of the attack, another blast occurred, killing one police official and injuring several others.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Abdul Majid Marwat was quoted, as saying that the injured included 11 Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) members, Counter-terrorism Department personnel and police and six civilians.
The injured have been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, while additional police personnel have been deployed in the area.
Around 4.5 kilograms of explosive material was used in the bombs, SSP Abdul Majid Marwat said.
Rescue 1122 officials claimed to have shifted six injured to the hospital.
A DSNG van of Express News and Rescue 1122's vehicle were damaged as a result of the blasts.
