Two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militants were killed, while an army soldier was injured, in an encounter with the security forces in Tral area of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
Based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of some terrorists at Kaigam village in the district, a joint operation was launched on Sunday afternoon by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who cordoned off the area where the terrorists were hiding.
As soon as the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire at the security forces, an intense exchange of fire ensued. However, by 6 p.m, the security forces gunned down the militants, identified as Adil Pathan and Burmee, and seized two AK47 rifles and other equipment from their possession.
However, the soldier who had sustained a gunshot wound was immediately evacuated, and his condition is reported to be stable.
