The security forces gunned down two militants during a fierce encounter in Rafiabad locality of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramullah district on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, the security forces cordoned off a house in Rafiabad locality, where the two militants were holed up.
The security forces cordoned off the area and launched the operation.
"We evacuated the people living in the vicinity as we launched our operation. Then, we targeted the house where militants were holed up. During the firefight, we killed both the terrorists. The operation is still on," said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Garib Das.
Earlier in the day, the security forces had busted a militant hideout in Doda district by launching a search operation in Amrai Nala near Chilli area.
According to reports, one AK-47, four 12 bore rifles, one pistol, four AK-47 magazines, two SLR Magazines, 150 rounds of 7.62 mm AK-47 and 100 rounds of 7.62mm assorted ammunition were among the cache of arms recovered by the forces.
