Two tourists were reportedly killed and four other tourists were wounded after an assailant attacked them with a knife on the Red Sea resort in Egypt's Hurghada.

The officials say the attacker is a young man in his twenties and he is said to have shouted in Arabic during the attack on Friday: "Stay away, I don't want Egyptians."

Anadolu News Agency quoted Interior Ministry as saying that "security authorities of the Red Sea directorate arrested a person who attacked a number of tourists with a knife on a beach of one of the hotels in the city of Hurghada".

"The incident resulted in the injury of six female tourists of different nationalities who were transferred to a hospital for treatment," the Interior Ministry statement read.
