American boxing legend Mike Tyson would introduce his retired compatriot Evander Holyfield into a boxing hall of fame 17 years after the infamous bout bite, with the pair appearing to have made up in a staged advertisement.

Tyson, who bit off part of Holyfield's ear during their world heavyweight title fight, has been asked to oversee his great rival's induction Nevada boxing's Hall of Fame.

Tyson has agreed to handle the August 9 ceremony in Las Vegas, and said that it would be a privilege and high honour, Sport.co.nz reported. Holyfield entered into the mood, saying that it is great.

Hall of Fame organisers have termed the move to bring the pair together in the boxing capital as sheer magic.

Their 1997 rematch remained one of the most controversial in boxing history with a fired-up Tyson losing the plot and turning cannibal during the third round. He was subsequently disqualified for his meltdown.

The pair has already put their differences aside, appearing in a recent TV commercial in the United States that was a spoof of the famous biting incident.
