The White House conclusion that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad's regime was responsible for the suspected chemical weapons attack on civilians last week was reportedly based on the intercepted conversations provided by the Israeli intelligence service.

A special unit of the Israeli Defense Force, which goes by the number 8200, had been cooperating with the National Security Agency (NSA) over suspected Assad regime for intimidating the attack that killed several thousands, Fox News reports.

Earlier, there was confusion over whether chemical weapons were used, and if yes, who gave the orders to use them.

According to the report, the satellite images revealed that the Assad regime was covering up the chemical attack by shelling the area, where most of the deaths had occurred, the report added.

A senior administration official said that once the intelligence community has finished off with its formal assessment of the chemical attack, a larger and classified report will be sent to Congress that will have a lot more detail.

The report is considered a key component in the administration's decision for military intervention and a possible missile strike in Syria.
