A U.S. court has granted bail to Bangladeshi diplomat Mohammed Shahedul Islam, who was indicted on charges of labour trafficking and assault, for forcing his servant to work without pay.
A New York court had indicted Shahedul, who is the Deputy Consul General of Bangladesh on Monday for allegedly assaulting and forcing his domestic aide to work for his family in New York without pay, reports the Dhaka Tribune
As per the New York state law, a defendant faces up to 15 years in prison in such case if convicted.
