U.S Defense Secretary Ash Carter made an unannounced visit to Afghanistan on Tuesday where he will meet President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah alongwith senior U.S military commanders.

His visit comes days after U.S President Barack Obama announced that nearly 8,400 troops will remain in Afghanistan until end of his Presidency in January 2017, reports Tolo News.

Meanwhile, Afghan leaders attended the NATO heads of state summit in Poland on Sunday where they discussed the security situation in Afghanistan and the reform process carried out by the Afghan National Unity Government.

Jens Stoltenberg NATO Secretary General after the meeting with Afghan leaders said they pledge funding the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces through 2020.
