Uber rape case convict Shiv Kumar Yadav was sentenced to life imprisonment till death by a Delhi Court on Tuesday.
Taking to reporters, Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastav told reporters outside the Tis Hazari Court: "We requested the Court to give him maximum punishment to send a strong message to the society."
"The convict was awarded life imprisonment till his natural life under section 376 (2A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC); one year of imprisonment and Rs 1,000 fine under section 323 of the IPC; 10 years of jail and Rs 5,000 fine under section 366 of the IPC; and seven years of imprisonment and Rs 5,000 fine under section 506 of the IPC," said Srivastav, while elaborating upon the quantum of punishment awarded to Yadav.
