Udaan gives Kashmiri boy wings to secure the 'Indian Dream'

The Udaan employment scheme in the valley is opening doors for Kashmiri youth to join the Indian Corporate World. One success story is that of Adnan Bhatt, who says that Udaan gave him the opportunity to reach out and secure the Indian dream of middle class life.

"Udaan Project in association with Bajaj Allianz GIC Ltd. gave me wings to fly high in my career," Bhatt said.

With the number of registered unemployed youth crossing the six lakh mark, Jammu and Kashmir has the highest unemployment rate of 5.3 percent in comparison to its four neighbouring states.

Bhatt said that his life changed the day he came across the recruitment drive of Udaan and got selected as "Executive Trainee".

"I was offered one year of unique, intensive and innovative training programme in Sales and Marketing, first four months of inter-departmental training followed by 8 months of on the job training developing business acumen in various departments," he said.

Bhatt said he served the organization with utmost dedication and hard work because of which he garnered various laurels and feat.

2. Selected as Brand Ambassador of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co. Ltd. winning Face of BAGIC contest.

4. Also, a part of elite advisory panel involved in new product development initiatives.

The Fifth Economic Census, conducted in 2005, indicates that there are 3.24 lakh establishments in the state presently engaged in different economic activities.

Speaking to the media, Bhatt said, "As of now, I am being designated as "Project Lead - Business on Mobile" directly under the mentorship of Head Office Pune."

"Credit goes to Udaan Project for giving me a platform to work and get associated with esteemed Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co. Ltd. It has altogether been a journey full of learning. Fly high with Udaan and Bajaj Allianz," he said.

There has been a stark increase in the rate of unemployment in the state in recent time. The number of registered job seekers increased from 1.11 lakh in 2007 to 6.01 lakh in 2011 registering an increase of 439%.

The Unemployment rate in urban areas stood at 6.5 percent as against 4.9 percent in rural areas.

Bhatt's story comes as a tale of pure inspiration and motivation for the youth, who are facing severe employment crunch in the valley and are struggling to find a silver lining, given their dilapidated fates.

The Udaan employment scheme is bound to better the lives of many such job aspiring and success seeking youngsters in the state and lead them to horizons of accomplishment.
