The United Kingdom Parliament has shown complete support for British airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq.

Members of Parliament voted for military action after a seven-hour debate. There were total 524 votes for military action.

The conservatives, Lib Dems and Labour leaderships all supported airstrikes but a few MPs showed concern regarding future engagement in Syria.

Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said that there would not be a 'series of immediate hits' and that there was a long campaign ahead.

He also said that they wanted to stop the killing of civilians in Iraq and the UK would be guided by Kurdish and Iraqi intelligence forces in identification of targets.
