Britain's first motorway pub has come under storm from many quarters.
The 1.1 million-pound-pub is located at junction two of the M40 in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.
JD Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said that he totally understood the reason behind the concerns.
He said that their argument is that they're a responsible pub company, and they sell responsibly, asserting that they would like their customers to act responsibly too, the Daily Star reported.
Gershon said that food is a massive part of what they do now and they would expect the majority of sales to be food and non-alcoholic drinks.
Eric Appleby of Alcohol Concern said that selling alcohol on the motorways is going to be sending all the wrong signals to drivers.
He said that campaigners have worked tirelessly to improve road safety in Britain, and persuade people that drinking and driving don't mix, and this felt like a backward step.
