Sacked Manchester United manager David Moyes has reportedly been jokingly offered the chance to join the UK Independence Party (UKIP) by its leader Nigel Farage.

The former Everton boss was axed in a dawn meeting at the Old Trafford club following the team's disastrous showing in all competitions since his taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson a mere ten months ago.

According to Metro.co.uk, UKIP, known for its firm anti-European Union (EU) stance, have seemingly been impressed by Moyes' ability to eject United from all European competitions this season, while making it extremely unlikely that they would be playing abroad next term, too.

Farage joked that as Moyes managed to get United out of Europe, he might come and join UKIP during this campaign.
