United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon has told the UN Security Council that the use of chemical weapons in Syria is a 'war crime'.

The comments from Moon came after United Nations weapons inspectors submitted a report with overwhelming and indisputable evidence of the use of nerve gas in Syria.

The 38-page report was released after Moon briefed Security Council members on its contents.

According to CNN, the team found that there was clear and convincing evidence that the nerve agent sarin was delivered by surface-to-surface rockets on a relatively large scale in the suburbs of the Syrian capital Damascus on August 21.

Ban called the attack a 'war crime' and a violation of treaties banning the use of chemical weapons that date back to 1925, the report added.
