Underwater drones equipped with side-scan sonar equipment are about to join the search for Flight 370.
The new drones are expected to hit the water in one or two months.
According to Mashable, in addition to finding the debris of the missing Malaysian airlines jet 370, the new drones will be tasked with widening the search area, and mapping swaths of the ocean floor that have never before been mapped.
Side-scan sonar equipment will be key in the mapping effort.
