The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday cleared two road projects in Jammu and Kashmir to expedite the implementation of six sub-projects in the state under National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase-II project.
"The Cabinet has taken two major decisions on infrastructure of Jammu and Kashmir, both related to roads. The Cabinet has approved projects of four laning of the Ramban Banihal section of the NH-1A and Udhampur Ramban section of the NH-1A," Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad told the media.
The project also aims at providing all-weather-connectivity from Jammu to Srinagar, thus reducing the travel time between the two cities, as well as providing stable connectivity to the strategic border areas in the state.
