A unique art show, combining recitations of poetry along with visual depictions was organised in Kochi.
The art show depicted the poems 'Sabda Mahasamudram' (Ocean of voice) and 'Deseeya Mrigam' (National Animal) written by poets S. Kalesh and Ajeesh Dasan respectively.
The poems deal with the themes of noise pollution and the need to express thoughts and ideas without fear.
The four-day show was inaugurated by renowned dancer and activist, Mallika Sarabhai, who stressed the importance of art forms to highlight the ills in the society.
"Many of us are in this situation. We study but we do not learn, we learn but we do not become wiser, we listen but we do not hear. We have forgotten to listen either to our own truth or to the sounds of the nature. We blast noise, whether it is intellectual noise, political noise, whether it is mercantile noise," said Sarabhai.
Vinod Krishna, the organiser of the show, said he was motivated to take up the challenge as no one had explored it before.

"I researched about it and realised that there was not such an art done earlier. It was a novel idea and we are putting this idea of poetry installation to the world of art," said Krishna.
The art director, Gabriel George, said that he began his work for the show by making a sketch of the main elements of both the poems and then made a 3D sketch of the sculptures to be made for the same.
"Eighty percentage of these two sculptures is sheet metal iron and the rest of the twenty percentage is rubber sheet sole. The mix of the two mediums we have used in this one," said George.
The sound mixing has been done by Bollywood sound designer Ranganath Ravee. The show aims to enhance the experience of listening poetry and make poetry more appealing to the masses.
