In a major modification in the current state police administration, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Javeed Ahmed on Tuesday said that 625 cops with suspected criminal links have been transferred to different regions on administrative grounds.
The DGP took to Twitter to inform about the same.
"625 cops with suspected criminal links transferred to different regions on administrative grounds. More being identified," he said.
Earlier on March 24, a few days after Yogi Adityanath was sworn-in as the Chief Minister, the Uttar Pradesh Police suspended over 100 policemen.
Most of the suspensions, including mostly constables, were in Ghaziabad, Meerut and Noida.
A day before this suspension, Adityanath paid a surprise visit to Lucknow's Hazratganj Police Station to check general preparedness.
The Chief Minister also inspected the crime branch and cyber cell of the state police.
