Contrary to the Bahujan Samaj Party's (BSP) performance in Uttar Pradesh, the party's leader Mukhtar Ansari won from Mau constituency.
The leader established a victory with 97,199 votes in total in the 403-seat UP assembly here today.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asserted its supremacy in the state with 314 seats, while the Samajwadi Party-Congress Alliance bagged 62 seats. The Mayawati-led BSP bagged 21 seats.
