The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday said that they would handover Shiv Kumar, who has been arrested in connection with the murder of artist Hema Upadhyay and her lawyer Harish Bhambani, to the Mumbai Police on Tuesday.
Inspector General (Law and Order) of the Uttar Pradesh Police A. Satish Ganesh said that further action would be taken by the Mumbai Police.
"One of prime suspects Shiv Kumar will be handed over to the Mumbai police tomorrow," he said.
"Tomorrow, in all probability, he will be produced before the magistrate and further legal action will be taken by the Mumbai police," he added.
The Special Task Force (STF) along with Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police today detained two suspects, one of whom is the key suspect, in connection with the sensational double murder case.
According to police, the bodies of Hema (43) and Bhambhani (65), with their hands and feet tied with ropes, were recovered from a drain in suburban Kandivali on Saturday night.
Earlier in 2013, Bhambani had represented Hema in a case after she filed harassment complaints against her husband Chintan and alleged that he had painted obscene sketches on the walls of her room.
