The Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Ram Naik, called on the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, here today.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said it was a courtesy call.
A senior BJP leader and a former Union Minister, Mr. Naik was appointed as Governor of Uttar Pradesh in July this year by the Narendra Modi Government.
Mr. Naik took over from Mr. B.L. Joshi, who was perceived to be a close confidante of the Gandhi family, and was asked to resign on June 17.
A three-time parliamentarian, Mr. Naik, 80, has the rare distinction of being the only minister who completed five years as Petroleum and Natural gas minister in one government.
