Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Rajendra Chaudhary on Sunday said that the state government has sent twenty trucks with mineral water and food and one with medical essentials to Nepal in wake of the massive earthquake that hit the country yesterday.

Today we have sent 21 trucks carrying food, mineral water and medicines to Nepal. There are 10 trucks with mineral water, 10 with food and 1 with medical essentials," said Chaudhary.

The death toll due to the massive earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter Scale, which hit Nepal yesterday has reached 1,900, while over 5000 have been reported to be injured.

The Indian Government had earlier sent four aircrafts with NDRF teams to oversee rescue and is planning to deploy three more.

Meanwhile, NDRF teams have been deputed across all the affected states in India. A 24-hour control room for queries regarding the tragedy has also been set up.

The impact of the earthquake was felt in almost all northern states in India particularly in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim and West Bengal.
