Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitin Gadkari on Monday said that the country was reeling under inflation and price rise due to wrong economic policies and misrule of Congress-led UPA Government.

Gadkari criticized Congress party and its alliance United Progressive Alliance (UPA), saying they had created a world record in corruption.

"Due to wrong economic policies, bad and corrupt governance, visionless leadership and inefficient decision making of India's ruling Congress party and United Progressive Alliance (UPA), our country features highest in inflation and price rise in the world. If you check inflation rates in Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Singapore, America and Kerala and even for that matter Bangladesh, our inflation has reached almost 18 percent whereas in the world it is below or around four percent. Congress party-led UPA Government has made world record in corruption and mis-governance," said Gadkari.

Gadkari also said people of the country are hopeful of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and believe that a change will come in the country.

"Per Capita Income, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Human Development Index (HDI), Agriculture Growth Rate, they are all parameters to study the growth rate of any of the states. I can give independent data of each state but I do not want to waste time doing that. I want to tell you that the BJP and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regime has proved to be better than Congress party or UPA. Once Narendra Modi-led government comes to power, we will eradicate poverty, give jobs to unemployed and I assure this to everyone that within six months of rule, we will bring down inflation and rising prices to 25 percent," added Gadkari.
