Uproar in LS as Congress seeks V.K. Singh's resignation

The Lok Sabha on Wednesday witnessed a stormy beginning when Congress members trooped into the well demanding Minister of State in the External Affairs, V.K. Singh's resignation for his anti Dalit remarks.

The Opposition members demanded action against the Union Minister and chanted slogans at the well.

Leader of the Congress Party in the House, Mallikarjun Kharge accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi over being silent over the issue and that his ministers are continuously defaming the different sections of the society.

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan's pleas to maintain calm fell on deaf ears as the protesting MPs walked out instead.

Earlier, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu took a serious concern over the flood situation in Tamil Nadu and proposed a discussion in the House.

The Lok Sabha today took up the discussion on the flood and drought situation in different parts of the country. Initiating the discussion, T G Venkatesh Babu of AIADMK demanded adequate assistance from the centre for the flood affected Tamil Nadu to deal with the situation. He said, the flood has caused major loss of lives and damage to property in the State.
