Pakistan has said the United States has assured of not carrying out drone strikes during the negotiations with the Taliban.
Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz quoted President Barack Obama as saying that America does not want 70 percent of Pakistanis to hate it, Express Tribune reports.
Aziz also said that when the issue of sabotaging peace talks with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) by killing their chief Hakimullah Mehsud's killing was raked up, America had said that he was already on their hit list.
Mehsud had survived at least two U.S. drone strikes in the past, the report added.
Meanwhile, the TTP ruled out the possibility of peace talks with the government by selecting Mullah Fazlullah, the leader of the Swat Taliban, as their new chief on November 7.
