US House Homeland Security Chair Rep. Michael McCaul has admitted that the gyrocopter that landed on the Capitol lawn last week exposed a security "vulnerability" as ultra-light aircrafts are difficult to detect.

According to ABC News, McCaul said that since the ultra-light aircrafts can fly under the radar as the gyrocopter last week, terrorists could exploit the vulnerability to their advantage.

He also said that if the aircraft had gotten any closer, then they would have shot it down.

Doug Hughes flew his gyrocopter about 80 miles from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday with the declared intention of carrying out an act of civil disobedience.

Hughes was arrested by Capitol police officers shortly after he landed his aircraft.
