A Georgia man helped five adults and two children escape from a burning house, but went back to grab his stash of Bud Light.
According to WTVM, Walter Serpit was watching television with seven other people in his Columbus home, when the room began to fill with smoke.
Serpit claimed that he told the adults to get the kids out, but being an alcoholic, went back to the house to get his beer, the New York Daily News reported.
The door shut behind him as the back draft tried to kill him but he still managed to grab several cans of beer, before he escaped completely unharmed.
Firefighters arrived at the sight after a short time and extinguished the blaze, which is suspected to have started from a recently installed water heater.
