French film director Luc Besson revealed that the follow-up film to his 2017 sci-fi adventure flick 'Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets' would not be as expensive as the first motion picture in the franchise.
He disclosed that the main reason behind this was the difference in story.
He said, "The price depends on the story. The story of the second one is less expensive", reported Contactmusic.
''It's pretty less, the story's different so ... and there's some elements that you can use that we have in the first one and then we have the knowledge now", he added.
However, a third project would see the price shoot back up.
"The third one is almost the same than the first. But it depends on the story, the price doesn't go up because you want to. It depends of what you're saying. But the second one is less expensive", Besson said.

Besson hopes for a positive reaction from the DVD/Blu-Ray release as he is keen on working on a sequel.
He said, "So let's see how it's working, let's see how the thing ... but if it goes normally then, yeah, I want to do the number two for sure."
In August, Besson admitted that he would love to make a sequel to the first film with Cara Delevingne and Dan DeHaan reprising their roles.
"Every episode is a new trial. And you're not linked by the first one, the link is just the two characters, so it could be totally different," he revealed.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is based on the French science fiction comics series Valerian and Laureline, written by Pierre Christin.
The first instalment released on July 21 in the United States and despite collecting USD 225 million, it was considered a commercial failure due to its high production and advertising costs.
