'The Vampire Diaries' star Kat Graham has bagged her first lead role in upcoming biopic, based on late singer Tammi Terrell.
Graham, who's also working on her debut album with producer Babyface, will do the role of a 1960s Motown hitmaker, who tragically died of a brain tumour at the age of 24, Deadline.com has reported.
Graham said she "immediately connected" to Tammi and her story and felt the need for it to be heard. She added that the singer defined passion and soul with her music.
The untitled project, which was penned by Maryam Myika Day, is being produced by Robert Teitel, Rose Ganguzza and Hilary Shor.
The biopic, which is the first full-length feature via Graham's Panthera Pictures production company, will begin shooting in 2016.
