Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Monday said that former union shipping minister G.K Vasan's decision to break away from the party clearly reflects his weak personality.
Taking a jibe at Vasan, Dikshit said the Congress needs fighters and not people who run away at the time of need.
"This is unfortunate. When they were in the party, enjoying the luxuries, they had no problem, but when the party lost in elections and there was a need for hard work, he ran away. This reflects a weak personality and shows one's commitment towards the party. Nobody needs such people, who run away when the time is not good. We need fighters not people who run away at the time of need," said Dikshit.
Earlier today, Vasan quit the Congress citing conflict of interests and floated a new party.
B.S. Gnanadesikan, a loyalist of Vasan, had earlier last week tendered his resignation as the Tamil Nadu Congress chief, accusing the leadership in Delhi of failing to consult the state branch on important issues.
Tamil Nadu will go to polls in 2016.
