Former England captain Michael Vaughan has backed the prospective appointment of Ashley Giles as the team's new head coach and said that he is perfect to bring England out from its Ashes doldrums.
Vaughan believes that Giles is ahead of all the other candidates for the England job because he has a chance to impress by delivering on and off the pitch while forcing his character and persona on the team.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, even as England struggles to bring its ODI tour to the Caribbean back on track, Vaughan however, said that it is a good opportunity for Giles to take the team forward if he is selected to replace Andy Flower and backed him, along with Paul Collingwood and Graham Thorpe as the team's new coaches.
Vaughan said that it would be on Giles' shoulders to prove he can be the new head coach by helping the team succeed in the West Indies tour and the World Twenty20 as he will be in charge of England cricket for the first time.
Vaughan also said Giles needs to prove that he has created a new environment reflected in the brand of cricket England play and how the players sell the game in the media, adding that he has not had any chance to do the job his own way as he had always been working in the background, controlling the ODI team under Flower's reign.
Vaughan also said it is necessary for Giles to stamp his mark on the squad and show that he is different from Flower as change is much required in the team.
Vaughan backed the combination of three different personalities working, with Giles as the father figure while Thorpe and Collingwood provide good thinking and raw honesty.
