American tennis ace Venus Williams has claimed that she likes winning titles, insisting that she was not at the Australian Open to just reach the fourth round after she made it to the last 16 at Melbourne Park on Saturday.
Venus, who claimed the last of her seven majors at Wimbledon in 2008 and has not reached the second week of a Grand Slam since 2011, said that her vast experience should not be underestimated.
Venus, who bagged a gritty 4-6, 7-6 (7/3), 6-1 win over Camila Giorgi of Italy, said that she has won big, adding that it's not like she hasn't done it before, Sport24 reported.
The American claimed that she likes to win titles, whether it's a smaller event or a bi event, adding that that's what she plays for.
So, Venus admitted that it is great to be in the second week, but claimed that the fourth round is not her goal when she comes to these tournaments.
The win takes the 18th seeded American's record for 2015 to 8-0, including winning the Auckland Classic lead-up event.

Venus said that she was overjoyed to advance so far at a major again after a long battle with the energy-sapping Sjogren's Syndrome, which was diagnosed in 2011, and a string of injuries.
Venus said that that feels fantastic, especially when one has things happen in their life, which are out of their control, insisting that she doesn't want to leave it at that, and she would try to keep going.
Venus would next face sixth seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland in the fourth round, a player who has won their last two encounters, the report added.
