Veteran filmmaker K. Balachander passes away

Veteran Tamil film Director K. Balachander passed away at the age of 84 on Tuesday at a hospital in Chennai.

Balachander had directed over 150 films and was credited with giving stars such as Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan their first big break.

The director had also been awarded the prestigious Bala Padma Shri and Dada Sahbe Phalke awards.
