Veteran Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal was on Wednesday cremated at Nigambodh Ghat here in presence of BJP president Amit Shah, Senior leader L.K. Advani and several other party leaders.
Singhal died at a hospital in Gurgaon on Tuesday following a brief illness.
The 89-year-old, who was at the forefront of the BJP and Sangh Parivar's Ram temple movement, was admitted to Medanta- Medicity last week after he complained of breathlessness.

".He was an institution in himself, whose life was centred around serving the nation. Ashok Singhal ji was the force behind several noble deeds & social work, which benefitted the poor. He is an inspiration for generations," PM Modi had tweeted.
Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Minister of Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu had paid tributes to Ashok Singhal at RSS office in Jhandewalan during his prayer meet.
