Victims of militancy get aid in Jammu and Kashmir

Some victims of militancy in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir were provided monetary as well as other assistance by the State government today under its rehabilitation policy .

Sakina Itoo, Jammu and Kashmir welfare minister said that the government had increased the financial aid to the widows, old parents and dependents of the militancy affected families from rupees 750 per month to rupees 1000 per month.

"All the militant-related victims have been given SRO - 43 (aid under a state rule). Widows have been covered - they are getting pension. Similarly, disabled people have been given tricycle and wheel chair according to their needs. Some are blind also they have been aided by the rehabilitation counsel in different ways," said Itoo .

The government provided cycle and tricycles to the persons in need of them. "I have got a cycle today. Now, I will have no problem in going anywhere. The government has given me this so that I can travel easily," said a militancy victim, Jagdish Raj.
