Manchester United manager David Moyes has said that the decision of captain Nemanja Vidic to leave the club at the end of the season is a 'mutual' one.

The Serbia defender revealed that he would leave when his contract expires at the end of the current season.

According to the BBC, Moyes said that Vidic and the club's management mutually agreed on his decision to quit the Old Trafford side, adding that he believes it is the right decision for both club and player even though Vidic has been a 'brilliant servant' for United.

Stating that Vidic would remain United's captain for the rest of the campaign, the Scot also said that Vidic, who debuted for United in 2006 after a seven million-pound move from Spartak Moscow, has been a great player for United and they will continue using him till his departure.

Vidic captained United to their historic 20th top-flight title last season - his fifth under Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired immediately afterwards and also helped United win the Champions League in 2008, secured by a penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea in Moscow, as well as three League Cups, the report added.
