India opening batsman Murali Vijay, who is recovering from a recurrent hamstring injury, has stressed that his primary focus is on achieving full fitness ahead of the South Africa series.

"Actually, I'm pretty excited [about the South Africa series] and only one thing I'm concentrating at the moment is my fitness," Vijay was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

The 31-year-old batsman scored a vital 82 during India's 278 run victory at the P Sara Oval, but had to miss the first and third Tests against Sri Lanka due to injury.

Vijay insisted that he was trying to work on his batting basics, fitness and his fielding aspect ahead of the 72-day high-octane series against South Africa, which involves three Twenty20 internationals, five ODIs and then four Tests.

"I've been working on my rehabilitation. So, I think pretty good three weeks. I am at a good state now. I'm on the right track at the moment, and am happy about it. But, I am not thinking too far ahead because there's a month and a half to go for the Test series.
