Vijender Singh, the 2008 Olympic bronze medallist, has signed a multi-year promotional agreement with Queensberry Promotions through IOS Sports and Entertainment.
The deal will see talented middleweight fight a minimum of six times in the first year as he looks to herald in a new era for Asian boxing.
The MD and CEO of IOS Sports and Entertainment, Neerav Tomar, said that it was a historic moment for Indian boxing with Vijender turning professional.
"He's a top fighter and is extremely motivated to train hard and perform," he added.
Tomar further said that the Indian boxers have huge potential to be world beaters and Vijender would be the flag bearer for a nation of over billion people.
Delighted with the deal, Vijender said that he was excited to turn pro and was looking forward to the new chapter of his life, adding that he wanted to train hard and perform for his country at the global level.
He insisted that his immediate goal would be to work hard and make a good boxing record in the next year or so.
