Former journalist and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashutosh on Sunday described Vinod Mehta as versatile, frank and fearless editor.

"Vinod Mehta was one of the most versatile, frank and fearless editor I have ever known. I have tremendous respect for him for the reason that he never tried to ally with anybody, he never tried to hide anything and he was always truthful and honest," Ashutosh told ANI here.

"With his demise, the tradition of very serious and honest journalisms will take a beating because we are living in an era where to get closer to the political structure it has become almost fashionable among the journalists and the top editors," he added.

Senior journalist Vinod Mehta, who was the editorial chairman of Outlook India magazine, breathed his last earlier in the day after prolonged illness. He was 72 years old.

Mehta was one of the most influential editors and had launched a number of successful publications such as the Sunday Observer, Indian Post, The Independent and The Pioneer (Delhi edition).
