Greeting the spring season and bidding farewell to the winter season, devout Hindus thronged Sun God temples to offer prayers, symbolizing the ancient belief of going into light from darkness in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Devotees practiced sun salutations at the R.K. beach.

The Sun God festival is also known as Radha Saptami, the seventh day or Saptami of the lunar Magha Masam, symbolises the turning of the chariot of the Sun God towards the northern hemisphere in the heavens, according to Hindu mythology.

Ratha Saptami is also known as Magha Saptami. It is the festival of Lord Surya Narayana Swamy, celebrated in the month of February or March and considered as the birthday of God Surya. This day is also known as Surya Jayanti.
